Things To Do In Downtown Greenville, South Carolina
Upon visiting Greenville, South Carolina for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the downtown area was. There were so many great restaurant options, things to do, and even a beautiful park. You could easily spend a day there soaking up some sun, people-watching, and enjoying plenty of local treats.
Here are some of my favorite things to do in Downtown Greenville, South Carolina:
1. ) Start off your day with a coffee and pastry from Camilla Kitchen in M.Judson Booksellers.
M.Judson Booksellers quickly became one of my favorite parts about Downtown Greenville. It is a super cozy bookstore with a coffee shop inside. From Camilla Kitchen, you can get some delicious pastries, coffees, and teas. While there, you have to try their salted chocolate chip cookie!
2.) Check out some of the local stores in Downtown Greenville.
Lined up and down the streets are several great local businesses to do some of your shopping at.
- You can find almost anything at the Mast General Store, and this is where I bought my Greenville postcard.
- Stop by Old Skool Outfitter for some really nice thrifted clothing. While this thrift store is on the pricier end, each of the items are carefully selected so that you are shopping for some quality pieces. I personally think the prices here were pretty fair compared to other high-end thrift stores, especially for the sweatshirts and jackets.
- Buy some hand-crafted candles at GVL Soy Candle Co and even make your own custom candle. GVL Soy Candle Co is one of the best-smelling stores you are going to walk in and that is because of their wide range of high-quality candles that are made inside of the store.
- All sports lovers should check out The Vault for some retro sports apparel. There, you can find merch for some of your favorite teams that you might not be able to find elsewhere.
These are just a few stores that we went in when we visited Downtown Greenville, but there are so many more to check out.
3.) Appreciate nature at Falls Park On The Reedy.
I absolutely LOVED this park. Falls Park On The Reedy was such a great spot to relax, ride a bike, and walk along some trails. There’s a great grassy area to hang out and have a picnic, a bridge where you can get a fantastic view of the falls in front of the city landscape, and several signs giving you a quick history lesson on the area.
4.) Grab a bagel at Sully’s Steamers.
I am such a bagel person, so I am always excited to try the bagels at every city I visit. I was so happy that Greenville’s bagels at Sully Steamers did not disappoint. This place is not afraid to take bagels to the next level, and they have so many great options for both breakfast and lunch. I got their Original Italian bagel, and it was delicious.
5.) Catch a Broadway show at The Peace Center.
When I visited Greenville, it was because I had tickets to see Beetlejuice The Musical. While this show has now come and gone from The Peace Center, there are constantly great shows coming to the theater that you should check out.
5.) Eat a Burger and a Milkshake at Grill Marks
My boyfriend and I love places with crazy burgers and even crazier milkshakes which is why we had to eat at Grill Marks. Here, you can eat burgers with some unique toppings that don’t seem like they should work together (but they do). After you’re done with your burger, you’ll have to get one of their Freak shakes with toppings like gummy worms, cookies, and even a whole slice of cheesecake.
6.) Hang out at Group Therapy: Pub & Playground.
No, Group Therapy is not a place you go to talk about your feelings (unless you want to). It is actually more of an adult playground with different attractions such as axe throwing, mini golf, curling, and ping pong. When I went, we decided to do the mini golf, which was super fun due to its creative courses. There are 18 pop-cultured theme holes, but I will say that each hole is super short. Therefore, you will get done with the game fairly quickly.
While you’re there, make sure to head to the bathroom for a secret party. When you walk into the bathroom, look for a hanging picture that says, “In need of some therapy?” Once you find it, pull the frame towards you and press the button on the wall behind the frame. The lights will then turn off and be replaced with party lights while music begins blasting in the bathroom. This is such a fun little detail that you don’t want to miss out on.
There are so many other local spots that aren’t on the list because I couldn’t fit them all into my own trip, but you should definitely try them out for yourself. Greenville is full of breweries, stores, coffee shops, entertainment spots, and more.

I’ve never seen anything like Group Therapy, how unique! And I appreciate you pointing out where you can buy postcards because I always have trouble hunting those down when traveling.

We have South Carolina on our travel wish list on a road trip down the eastern coast of the US. So it was good to read more about Greenville so we would put it on our travel stop plan. We would definitely spend some time a the Falls Park on the Reedy. And we certainly would not go hungry!
