4 Paso Robles Winery Recommendations

Paso Robles is the wine capital of California, with its endless vineyards and wineries. Everywhere you look is another place for a wine tasting, so how do you pick which ones to go to? On my recent trip to Paso, I visited 4 different wineries, each with different vibes and wines. They were all lovely which is why I want to recommend them for your trip as well.

1. Dresser Winery – Sips & Scones Pairing

Tasting Experience: Did you know wine and scones go beautifully together? If you’re the kind of person who craves a treat at all hours of the day, this is definitely the tasting experience for you. The scones prepared by Carndonagh Kitchen were absolutely delicious, and I think it might be the way I have to drink wine from now on. During the tasting, you get to try 4 different Dresser wines and learn about the backstory behind each one.

Atmosphere: Out of these 4 wineries, this one had the most laid-back atmosphere. The tasting took place outside, and thankfully, it was a beautiful day out. The tasting area was so nice and had great views of the vineyard. You could definitely get away with wearing more casual clothing here, as even the owner was there in shorts and a t-shirt (which I can appreciate). The staff was super friendly, and the owners seem to spend a lot of time there, which is always a good sign that it is a great place to be.

2. Law Estate Wines

Tasting Experience: Out of these 4 tastings, this one was the most educational. I am not sure if it was just because our host loved to be informative or if this is the standard, but I really appreciated this as I did not know much about wine. It made me wish I had done this one first to prepare myself better for the other tastings. Here, you get to try 5 different Law Estate wines, including a fun little blind tasting at the end. You could truly tell that the wines were high quality and made with care.

Atmosphere: Law Estate is definitely on the more luxurious side. However, it still felt cozy and inviting. Additionally, our host was extremely kind and bubbly which really made the experience for us. Sitting on top of a mountain, this winery offered the best and most expansive views out of the 4 on this list. It was genuinely breathtaking and easy to see through the room’s floor-to-ceiling windows.

3. Copia Vineyards & Winery – Food and Wine Pairing

Tasting Experience: With the Copia food and wine pairing, you get to try a wide array of different bite-sized foods. Most of them were things I had never tried before, which made the experience even better. Each pairing was delicious and thoughtfully curated. Upon arrival, you are greeted with a glass of wine, but once you sit down, you are served four more wines matched with the different food.

Atmosphere: If you choose the outdoor seating experience, you will find that Copia’s patio is very lovely. The seating was comfortable, and they even provided blankets since it was a chilly day. The vineyards are easily viewable from the patio, as is their luscious garden. After our tasting, we took a stroll through the garden to admire all the different flowers they have growing. Some of the flowers were even used in the food we ate. I can see this easily being the ultimate girls’ day out spot.

4. Linne Calodo

Tasting Experience: Linne Calodo probably has the simplest tasting experience of the four on the list, and I do not mean that as a bad thing. It is also the most affordable of the four. Their commitment to keeping wine tastings affordable is very admirable. Here, you get to taste five different wines, either pre-poured or individually poured in front of you. I think the fact that they let you choose the preparation style is very smart and a big plus. We chose to have them individually poured since I needed to get some videos, and each one tasted great. Our host was also quite informative about the wines and kind enough to recommend some other great things to do in the area.

Atmosphere: The design of the tasting room was very modern and neat. While the modern style is not always my favorite, they managed to still have a lot of character in the space, which I liked. A major bonus of this tasting experience was definitely the dogs! The owner’s dogs find themselves visiting the tasting room, and we were truly blessed with their presence. Obviously, if you are not a dog person, this is not ideal, but I really enjoyed the company.
