Music Midtown Survival Guide: Tips for Atlanta’s Biggest Music Festival
This year I got to experience my second ever Music Midtown, and while it was overall a blast, I feel as though I could have been a bit more prepared. Therefore if you find yourself going to the next Music Midtown or a music festival in general, you might be in need of a survival guide. Thankfully, I have constructed a survival guide to the best of my ability to help you out.
What to Bring To Music Midtown

What to Expect / Tips For Music Midtown
1.) Lots and Lots of people, and they’re probably blocking your view. – No matter the lineup, Music Midtown is always going to have more people than you can imagine in one park. Sadly if you’re a shortie like me, then you might have trouble seeing the stage, depending on where you are standing.
Unless you can get right up at the barricade, then being close to the stage might not even be worth it. I tried to get close to the stage for Miley Cyrus, which caused me to barely see her throughout the show because everyone in front of me was taller than I am.
However, for the Jonas Brothers, I was all the way in the back, and I could see perfectly. They may have looked a little smaller, but at least I could see.
2.) Overpriced Food and Drinks – If you are on a budget, I would definitely recommend eating before you go and maybe even leaving the festival when you get hungry again in order to find food somewhere else.
When my boyfriend and I got hungry on Day 1 of the festival, we got pulled in by the smell of chicken tenders. Therefore, we hopped in line at one of the food tents, and once we got up to the front, we were disappointed but not too surprised at how much chicken tenders cost. My boyfriend got tater tots, three pieces of chicken, and a cup of lemonade for $22! I chose to opt-out of getting tater tots, which saved me $6, and I paid $16 for chicken tenders and a lemonade.
This was pretty outrageous but also kind of predictable for any type of event like this. Therefore, to avoid getting entranced by the smell of festival food, eat food from outside of the park whenever you can.
3.) Listen to the Artists Beforehand! – I love discovering new artists through music festivals! Personally, for the weeks leading up to the festival, I like to listen to music by the artists that will be performing. By doing this, I am able to find new artists that I want to watch, and I have a better time at the performances because I actually know the words to their songs.
Watching an artist perform and only knowing their top hit can sometimes make it a less fun experience. However, when you know the words to several songs, you are able to sing along and dance around and really have the best time.
One artist that I didn’t really know much about was Girl in Red. However, after listening to her music a good bit before the festival, I really liked it and was able to sing along at her performance. This really elevated the concert for me and allowed me to fall even more in love with her music.
I am so thankful that I am able to attend events like these, and I highly recommend you attend a music festival while you are still willing and able. The two festivals that I have been able to experience have been some of my favorite memories so far, and I hope my post has not only encouraged you to buy tickets to your closest festival but has also helped you feel prepared.

I haven’t been to a music festival in a while so it’s good to have a refresher on what to expect. I especially liked your tip about listening to some of the music beforehand to get familiar with the bands playing at the festivial.

I can’t handle crowds so music festivals aren’t for me. But the portable charger seems like a great idea to bring so yours doesn’t die!
