Fernbank After Dark: What To Expect
Want to make a fun date night out of Fernbank After Dark, but don’t know what to expect? That is the same boat I was in until I finally attended the monthly Fernbank Museum event myself! Overall, it was one of my favorite date nights ever, and I hope this guide persuades you to go in the upcoming months.
What Is Fernbank After Dark?
Fernbank After Dark is an event put on by the Fernbank Museum once a month in which the museum is open to attendees aged 21 and up only! This takes place on the 2nd Friday of each month after normal museum hours and follows a new theme each month. For instance, when I attended, the theme was Space, in celebration of their new space exhibit opening! You can find out what the upcoming themes are by checking the Fernbank Museum website.
How Much Are Tickets To Fernbank After Dark?
Tickets for Non-Members are $21.95 which is less than the cost of a ticket when visiting during normal hours! Members get a $5 discount.
What Happens at Fernbank After Dark?
The museum is divided into three sections, the lower level, the upper levels, and the outdoors. Throughout each level, there are different stations set up that follow the theme of the night. At these stations are different activities and learning experiences! The stations are open up until an hour before closing, so if you want to be able to visit each station, maybe get to those first.
All exhibits in the museum are open as well (even the ones meant for children). This means you are able to fully explore the space without bumping into small children or being crowded by classes from local school field trips.
On the lower level, there are mini bars serving a small menu of cocktails, beers, and tapas. There is also live music!
Outside, you can find the WildWoods which includes different nature trails, playgrounds, and exhibits. During the Holiday season, WildWoods becomes AGLOW. This area is lit up with whimsical, colorful lights that also drive up the price of a ticket, with Non-Member tickets becoming $39.95.
Fernbank After Dark Dress Code
Fernbank After Dark’s dress code does not seem to be too specific. You can dress casually or spruce it up for a nice night out! It’s totally up to you as long as it’s appropriate!
Example: I wore a sweater, jeans, and a sweater vest, and my boyfriend wore a graphic tee and jeans!
What Time Should I Get To Fernbank After Dark?
If you want to make the most of your experience and find a good parking spot, you should try to arrive as soon as the night begins. The exhibits, bars, and gift shops stay open for the whole night, but as mentioned earlier, the different science stations close an hour before closing time. You are able to arrive and leave at any time you wish, but there is no re-entry when you do decide to leave.
Next time you need an idea for a meet-up with friends, a date night, or just a night out by yourself, consider attending Fernbank After Dark! It makes for such a great night that doubles as fun and educational. I mean who doesn’t want to get a lil tipsy at a museum?
