Brasstown Bald: Hiking Up Georgia’s Highest Peak
Brasstown Bald has been sitting on my list of must-do hikes for months now, and I figured it was finally time to be able to cross it off. I knew that with it being the highest peak in Georgia, the view would not disappoint, which is why it would be worth the 2-hour drive to get there from Kennesaw. I also decided I wanted to be able to watch the sunset from the mountain, so we left Kennesaw at around 5 pm in order to be at the top before the sun setting at 7:45 pm. The Brasstown Bald Hike: When you first discover that the hike is only 0.6…

5 Free Things To Do In Atlanta, Georgia
As a college student that lives next door to Atlanta, I have become an expert on how to have fun in the ATL while avoiding spending my money. While Atlanta does have a lot of neat experiences that are worth the money, it is possible to have a good time for free, and as I get older, that gets more and more appealing. Here is a list of my 5 favorite free things to do in Atlanta, Georgia. 1.) Jackson Street Bridge View from Jackson Street Bridge Thankfully, one of the best viewpoints of Atlanta’s skyline comes at no cost to you, as it is simply a bridge. I have…

The Van Gogh Immersive Experience: A Guide
My most recent experience and newest recommendation is the Van Gogh Immersive Experience that has been popping up around the country. This exhibit is the latest way to showcase art, with the main event being a giant room where the walls are covered in projections in order to make you feel like part of the painting. After learning that it was coming to Atlanta, I immediately bought tickets. Not really knowing what to expect, I was a little worried that the tickets I had just paid for were not going to be worth it. Is sitting in a room full of projectors really going to be all that great? Well,…

The Time I Got Into The Atlanta Super Bowl For Free
In 2019, I was a freshman at Kennesaw State University near Atlanta. This was the same year that the Super Bowl happened to be coming to Georgia. While I thought this was a super neat coincidence and knew I would enjoy the experience if I could go, I had no intention of spending that much money on a ticket. Like I said, I was a college freshman. If I had thousands of dollars laying around that I could use on a Super Bowl ticket, I would not have had to take out a loan for school. However, I did end up getting to go to the Super Bowl for free,…

How I Spent A Weekend in Memphis, Tennessee
One night at around 10 pm, my roommate and I were sitting around our dining room table talking about our work schedules when we realized we both had the next few days off. One of us suggested we spontaneously go on a little trip, and since I had a friend living in Memphis, I figured that a weekend in Memphis, Tennessee, would be a pretty good choice. Neither of us had been to Memphis before or really given it much thought, but a free place to stay is a free place to stay. I quickly texted my friend to ask if he’d be okay with us staying with him on…

Gatlinburg, Tennessee With Friends
For years I assumed that for my 21st birthday, I would go to bars, get my first legal drinks paid for by friendly strangers, and party until I literally couldn’t party anymore. That is what you’re supposed to do right? Well cue the record scratch noise that they play in teen movies when things start to go wrong because along came Covid-19. Suddenly, my 21st birthday was far less exciting for me to look forward to. What can I possibly do to celebrate such a big milestone birthday when I am not even allowed to be around people?Eventually, I came up with an idea. I would wait a little while…

3 Cheap Things To Do In New York City
New York City can be a pretty expensive trip. Depending on where you are coming from and how much you like to spend on your trips, you might already be spending more than you would like to just to get there and have a place to lay your head at night. Thankfully, New York has plenty of things to do when you get tired of opening your wallet. These are my favorite three cheap things to do in New York City. 1. Staten Island Ferry If this is your first trip to the Big Apple, then I assume you will want to see the Statue of Liberty in all of…

How Not To Hike Stone Mountain
Stone Mountain located in Atlanta, Georgia is a famous mountain with a great view (if you can make it to the top). I had always heard it was especially beautiful if you could wake up early enough to reach the peak by sunrise. After hearing about it, I really wanted to try it out. After all, I sure do love my Georgia hikes. However, I am the complete opposite of a morning person, and it was also difficult to find someone who would agree to do such an early hike on a random day. Therefore, it took me a very long time to finally make the journey. Then I had…

3 Georgia Hikes For A Free Saturday
Growing up in Valdosta, Georgia, hiking was not a common activity for me. Once I moved up to Kennesaw for college, it still wasn’t my go to thing to do on a free Saturday. If I’m being honest, as a college student near Atlanta, I thought Saturdays had to be for attending frat parties and going to not-so-clean Buckhead bars. Therefore that is what I did. However, once Covid-19 spread to America, that was no longer my routine. Like most people I became weary of the virus and tried to stay away from people. How I chose to spend my time instead, was to go on hikes. Here are 3…

16 Dollars For a Drink and Some New York Trauma
Recently I went on a trip to New York City with my boyfriend. I was beyond excited as I had been to New York before with my high school and had fallen in love with the city at first sight. However, most people know that New York is not a walk on the beach. It can easily be one of the most chaotic vacations you will ever take. It almost does not feel right to even call a trip to NYC a “vacation” because I do not think that there is ever a moment where you are truly relaxed. This is honestly one of the reasons I love it so…
